Derek & Tara-Lee, Coaldale farm wedding photos

Derek and Tara-Lee held a beautiful Coaldale farm wedding this summer, making use of some amazing country locations in the area. The rustic aesthetic was offset with classic touches of lace and soft pink.

After the girls got ready at Tara-Lee’s house (including makeup done by Tara-Lee’s sister, Karina), they headed to the Coaldale Canadian Reformed Church for the ceremony. Between all the tears and Tara-Lee never being able to hold back her huge grin, there was so much happy energy there!

They both looked stunning and are always so blissful in each others presence. We had such a laid back day with them while everyone joked around and had fun at all the farms we visited.

Congratulations, Derek & Tara-Lee!

Birds of Prey Centre Alternative Wedding [Donovan & Brittany]

Donovan & Brittany, Birds of Prey Centre alternative Wedding

In what might be one of our most unique weddings of the year, Brittany and Donovan held an Alberta Birds of Prey Centre alternative wedding amongst all of the adorable ducks, owls, and eagles in Coaldale! Brittany loves animals and when they were looking for a unique, rarely used ceremony location, the Alberta Birds of Prey Foundation was a perfect fit.

They had an emotional and happy wedding there with their closest friends and family and then got to play with some ducks and owls before we headed back into Lethbridge. The post office building downtown was a perfect location for their subdued, cool wedding hues (and Brittany’s rad hair) and she rocked her tattoos with her wedding dress while Donovan sported his awesome trademark mustache.

They were a hilarious group to spend the day with and were such wonderful hams in front of the camera. :)

Congratulations, Donovan and Brittany!

Lethbridge Country Engagement Session [Tara-Lee & Derek]

Lethbridge country engagement session

Tara-Lee and Derek found a farm near her family home that was cute enough to match themselves for their Lethbridge country engagement session. With gorgeous weather and this dreamy looking location we had so much fun!

The couple are so sweet together and Tara-Lee constantly giggles and grins around Derek. Even Derek, who doesn’t like to smile for photos, “accidentally” smiled on camera quite a few times from being around Tara-Lee.

I can’t wait until their wedding later this year!

Coaldale Autumn Wedding [Willem & Jamie]

Jamie & Willem, Coaldale autumn wedding

Willem and Jamie had a gorgeous Coaldale autumn wedding with touches of baby blue and pink and burlap accents. It gave everything a perfect rustic feel for all of our farm locations we went to for photos!

We started out the day with their ceremony at the Canadian Reformed Church in Coaldale and after portraits headed to the Gem of the West Museum for their reception.

It was so much fun working with Willem’s family again and now getting to have Jamie’s family in the mix! They were able to include all of their sisters by having the younger girls as junior bridesmaids and a flower girl, and the main bridesmaids were sisters as well :) The sisters are all so close so it felt just like having their best friends in the party. I loved seeing Jamie and Willem’s glowing smiles at each other all day, not to mention how much fun they clearly have together :)

Congratulations, Willem & Jamie!

Lethbridge Rural Summer Wedding [Alyson & Jordan]

Jordan & Alyson, Lethbridge rural wedding

Jordan and Alyson had such a beautiful Lethbridge rural themed summer wedding with touches of wheat and wild flowers to complement all of the other vintage and lace details they included.

They had their afternoon wedding ceremony at Marantha Church in West Lethbridge. The two of them were so amazing to watch. They could not stop smiling at each other and laughing with joy through the whole ceremony (plus a bit of happy crying, of course).

For photos, they chose such a personal place: their own farm. The farm had such beautiful old buildings and lush green wild grass, making it such a gorgeous location for photos. Just down the road was Jordan’s family’s farm, which allowed us access into the bright yellow canola fields. I just love when canola is in season and so saturated like that!

Their reception was held back in Lethbridge at the College’s DA Electric Barn where they served donuts instead of cake :)

Congratulations, Jordan & Alyson!

Fun Coaldale Couples Session [Marianne & Tom]

Fun Coaldale couples session with couple holding owl

I can now say I’ve done portrait photography involving eagles and owls! Marianne works at the Alberta Birds of Prey Centre in Coaldale and with it being off-season we had special access to the whole place to do a fun Coaldale couples session with her and her boyfriend Tom.

They were so easy to work with and the centre made for an amazing backdrop, plus it didn’t hurt that Marianne’s not afraid to handle giant birds of prey! We were first able to pick out a gorgeous Bald Eagle, and then visited the owl sanctuary for a Great Horned Owl. The eagle showed off his awesome wingspan, though the owl was a little more reserved and decided it was better to watch out for the resident cat who followed us around for attention. Tom was very brave taking a turn holding the large bird! (more…)
