Lethbridge River Bottom anniversary portraits

It was great to catch up with Charleen and Chris again for their Lethbridge river bottom anniversary portraits. I love so much that they keep up this tradition of updating their photos every few years for their anniversary, and keeping it close to their wedding date makes it so great for reflecting on how their relationship has grown. Even though they’ve been together a while, they are still giggly like newly weds and have no awkwardness about cuddling and being close to each other.

We spent a beautiful evening exploring behind the Helen Schuler Nature Centre for their anniversary session. The fall colours have been so amazing this year and I loved the colours Charleen and Chris chose to wear to go with it. It’s especially impressive when they put their wardrobes together at the last minute between having colds and being busy with work! ;)

Late Autumn Indian Battle Park Couples Photos [Orlena & Wayne]

Late Autumn Indian Battle Park Couples Photos

It was so great to finally get Orlena and Wayne in front of my camera! Between illnesses, family emergencies, and rain (just to name a few things!), it seemed like it might not happen but finally the stars aligned… and we managed to do it before the snow stayed for good! I was surprised how much colour we were able to find in the river bottom after all of the snow, rain, and wind that took place the week before. We had a perfect early evening for late autumn Indian Battle Park couples photos by the high level bridge and any chilliness was negated by how cuddly Wayne and Orlena were together. I loved how squishy their hugs were and how much Orlena grinned every time Wayne kissed her :)

Waterton Anniversary Portrait Session [Louis & Laurie]

Waterton anniversary portrait session

Louis is a true romantic. For his 50th wedding anniversary with Laurie he surprised her with a trip to Waterton, a stay at the historic Prince of Wales Hotel, a fun weekend filled with exploring the park, and a Waterton anniversary portrait session.

I met with them at the hotel where we decided against the overlook photos in the original plan… because my goodness, was it windy! Instead we found shelter lower down at Linnett Lake and within the townsite by the docks, and luckily didn’t run into any of the bears that have been frequenting the town. (Though we were told we missed a bear visit by 15 minutes!)

Don’t let the fact that they prefer to be serious in photos fool you… throughout the session, Louis and Laurie constantly made each other laugh and are obviously still so in love after all these years. I wish them another happy 50 years together :)

Waterton Autumn Engagement Photos [Erik & Alena]

Waterton autumn engagement photos

Erik and Alena split their engagement portraits into two sessions so they could capture both winter and autumn in the mountains. Their winter photos proved to be a challenge when we had a snow-free February and now that it came time for the autumn session, we almost got snow! (The snow literally came the next day.) I think we’ll have better luck getting the correct weather for their upcoming summer wedding ;)

This time around we did Waterton autumn engagement photos and I was happy they braved the rain as I dragged them around the town site. I think the speed with which we ran around distracted them from the all the wind and dampness and better let them focus on being so cute together and having fun!

Miner’s Path Family Photo Session [Tennille & Jim]

Miner's Path family photo session

It’s definitely official at this point: Tennille and Jim make cute kids! This was my first time meeting their newest addition, Owen, and he’s just as cute as his sister Ava! For his first photos we met for a Miner’s Path family photo session in the Crowsnest Pass and I loved watching Ava interact with her new brother. This time they brought their adorable dogs along who did a lot better than expected, but were still super excited to see other dogs along the way :)

Park Lake Multi-Generation Family Photos [Peggy & Lourens]

Park Lake multi-generation family photos

To celebrate Lourens’ 50th birthday, his children all got together for Park Lake multi-generation family photos. The family coordinated so well for their blue color scheme and even the little kids matched! This was a wonderful idea for his wife Peggy to put together :)

Even as their children grow and move on to start families of their own, the closeness between them remains strong. The siblings interact no differently in their joking and teasing each other than if they were still kids living under the same roof!
