Crowsnest Pass Baby Girl Session [Fleurie]

Crowsnest Pass baby girl session

It was wonderful to meet Fleurie for her Crowsnest Pass baby girl session! We didn’t get to spend part of the session outdoors in the mountains as we hoped for thanks to the rain, but I got to hang out with her and her parents at home under the supervision of their dog Gus. (Gus doesn’t show up in these photos but he’ll be in their eventual outdoor family photos.) Fleurie was a little uncertain about what was going on and needed frequent bouncing breaks, but we managed to say just the right things to her in between crying for her to switch to her curious face. Her mom and dad learned a few new things about her that day, like that she LOVES soothers and that she is much happier if she gets to lay angled upside down.

SpringBreak Flower Farm Wedding [Travis & Stephanie]

Travis & Stephanie, SpringBreak Flower Farm Wedding

When Stephanie and I rode the school bus together many years ago, I never imagined I’d one day be rolling around in the damp grass photographing her wedding! Her and Travis had a gorgeous SpringBreak Flower Farm wedding and though their ceremony was forced inside from the threat of rain, we were lucky to be able to do all their photos outside. We were especially lucky seeing as how the day before there were tornado warnings!

It was amazing watching the interactions they had with their friends and family as they got ready for the day. I can’t count the number of times people almost broke out in tears, but always managed to catch themselves just in time not to wreck their makeup ;)

One very special part of the day was the inclusion of their dogs (their babies, of course!) Lucky and Luka. The dogs even had a special part in the ceremony as they walked down the aisle inside of SpringBreak garden centre and stood alongside the wedding party.

This was such a happy day for them and their wedding party was so energetic and happy, so they never had a chance to stop laughing.

Congratulations, Travis and Stephanie!

Crowsnest Pass Private Estate Outdoor Wedding [Shaun & Jill]

Jill and Shaun, Crowsnest Pass private estate outdoor wedding

Shaun and Jill had a rough start to their year but their wedding more than made up for that with how flawlessly it went, thanks in huge part to the many hours both of their mothers spent planning and organizing!

They held a Crowsnest Pass private estate outdoor wedding ceremony under Turtle Mountain in Jill’s parents’ yard. I refer to their ceremony venue as a “private estate” not because it technically is one, but because the term “backyard” doesn’t do it justice! This amazing property is beautifully landscaped and runs along the Crowsnest River. Jill’s family put so much work into getting the property set up for the wedding, with huge tents for the guests to sit under, ample parking, and refreshments. I love how they set the guests away from the ceremony so that it still had a very intimate feel.

Jill and Shaun are both very down to earth, happy people, making it such a pleasure to be around them for the day. Their commitment is so strong after already being together for a number of years and they are so comfortable with each other.

One very special part of the day was that they hired a bagpiper to celebrate Jill’s Scottish heritage and they got him to come along for extra photos, giving us a custom soundtrack for the day!

After portraits, we headed to the MDM Community Centre (the old elementary school of both me and Jill!) for their reception.

Congratulations, Jill and Shaun!

Natural Crowsnest Pass newborn photography, baby in basket looking with big blue eyes

Cruz is baby #1 for his mom and dad and is being totally spoiled with lots of love and cuddles! I went to visit them in the Crowsnest Pass for Cruz’s very first baby photos and he was quite the little model. At only one month old, he can already hold his head up and seemed to know how to stare directly at the camera with his big blue eyes. His parents have such great senses of humor and even though he’s soooo little, I’m sure it’s already rubbing off on him!

This session was one of Cruz’s very first baby gifts (before he even arrived!) and I am so glad their friend introduced us through photos. (more…)

Coleman Winter Engagement Photography [Erik & Alena]

Coleman winter engagement photography

Though Erik and Alena are from Calgary, they are passionate about the mountains and want everything about their wedding to be based on that majestic landscape. We decided to start out with Coleman winter engagement photography as their first session, hoping for the heavy snow that is typical of February. Imagine our surprise when February rolled around with record highs! Luckily the Miner’s Path is tucked away enough with little sunlight during the winter and the creek was still completely frozen. With some careful angles we made it look like winter never really left!

Crowsnest Pass winter engagement photography

Jena and Daniel are getting married in Kananaskis next summer and I finally got to meet them in person for their engagement session. I love having a chance to do Crowsnest Pass winter engagement photography; the snow stays so thick all winter and the beautiful streams in the area turn such a gorgeous blue. I was thrilled when they wanted to go to Miner’s Path for the first part of their photos because it’s so pretty there this time of year. Jena was home from school for the weekend and it was a perfect time to get photos from a different season than their wedding will be. They are so ridiculously adorable… I can’t wait to see how amazing they will look when they aren’t pretending to enjoy being in freezing wind ;)
