Jonathan and Valerie met up with me on what was probably the last hot day of the year for some engagement photos. They were total naturals in front of the camera (Jonathan’s perfectly placed hand in the pocket? That’s all him.) so they were super fun to work with. Congratulations on your engagement! (more…)

It’s been too long since I’ve seen Rachel, so it was great to have a chance to catch up with her while we did photos! I finally got to meet her boyfriend of five years, Pat, though she had talked about him tons before that. They are so great together and are expecting a baby in the new year. I know they will be awesome parents :) (more…)

What a perfect way to end wedding season! Kallie and Wallie were married at the Coast Hotel (where they also partied later that night) on the cusp of autumn, and lucky for us it stopped raining and we had a beautiful day. These two are so freaking fun; Wallie used to be a wrestler so he’s constantly performing, and Kallie is pretty good at keeping up with him! On top of that, I can’t get over how cute they are – c’mon, even their names match. I often found myself teary-eyed along with them because their stories were so sweet and the happy emotions were so high. It felt much more like spending the day with friends than working :) (more…)

Christian contacted me a little while ago to do photos of her and her boyfriend Riley with a “country theme,” which was super fun because I often try to make Lethbridge look more forested than it actually is and ignore what we have here!

Though they’ve only been serious for a year, they’ve known each other since middle school… aw! I can’t believe they were nervous about having photos taken; I mean, look at them! They just ooze cuteness. This blog post ended up being longer than my portrait ones normally are because I couldn’t narrow them down to just a few that I liked! :) (more…)

Attila and Chaylene were married this month in a romantic ceremony at the Lethbridge Lodge, which their family traveled across Canada to attend. They were absolutely adorable with how in love they are; halfway through the vows, they got so emotional that they had to pause for a hug! It was a beautiful day and everything went perfectly how they planned it. And what an easy day for me; they are ridiculously photogenic! (more…)

Always the photographer, never the bride?

Monday, July 18th, 2011

In June, my mom and I went to Disneyland (yes, again), and unfortunately Cameron wasn’t able to get the time off of work to come along with us. We spent my last day in town together, and we both took the day off of work. For him to get the day off, he said, he had to go into work earlier the next morning, so we had a quick goodbye while I was half asleep and when my parents later picked me up, it was only myself in the house.

Shortly after my mom and I arrived at the airport, we walked over to the ticketing area and I started to fill out the customs form before we got in line. My mom went, “Hey,” to me, and pointed behind me. This made me aware that there was someone there, so I apologized and inched over to give them space to get to the counter.

“No, look,” my mom said. I turned around and Cam was there!

My first reaction was to cry, and I thought he had come all that way just to say goodbye to me in a much more romantic way. Instead of saying anything, I just stared blankly at him because I was having trouble processing why he would do this or how he got there.

“I thought I should come along,” he said, and held up his passport and ticket, so I cried even harder (but in a happy way!).

The two of them had been plotting this for a long time. We had booked our flight when my mom was in town, and Cam had casually looked at my confirmation and rushed downstairs to book the seat next to us on his own computer.

There’s a little more to the story… (more…)
