Snowy Coleman Engagement Session [Meaghan & Chad]

winter Crowsnest Pass engagement photos

Meaghan and Chad got so lucky with a snowy Coleman engagement session. When they booked weeks in advance, we had no idea what December would give us and just managed to miss the -20C temperatures! We started at the Frank Slide Interpretive Centre parking lot for beautiful snowy views of the rock slide, but this proved to be the chilliest spot of all (it’s almost like being on an exposed mountain surface makes things windier! ;) ) and made our final stop at the Miner’s Path a very welcome warm visit.

They were very committed to their photos and willing to strip down to just sweaters, which looked so cute! I made sure they got to stay extra snuggly and warm their chilly hands up on each other as often as possible. This was definitely no challenge for them as being snuggly comes very naturally! I can’t wait for their wedding next summer, which should be a little easier when we aren’t in big coats and mittens ;)

Goat Mountain Getaway Autumn Wedding [Levi & Heather]

Levi and Heather, Goat Mountain Getaway Autumn Wedding

Just because you are planning a low key, intimate wedding, it doesn’t mean it can’t be elegant and gorgeously put together! Levi and Heather made great use of the rental property his parents run when they planned their Goat Mountain Getaway autumn wedding. The property was closed to vacationers for the weekend while Heather, Levi, and their closest friends and family gathered outside (and shed many happy tears) for their ceremony and reception. They could not have picked a more perfect weekend to capture the fall colours in the Crowsnest Pass. As a special touch, Levi’s father performed the ceremony (and was restricted to no more than three f-bombs!).

I loved how many amazing locations we were able to use at Goat Mountain Getaway. Although the property is fairly small, it was compressed with forests, mountain views, a teepee and even a tire swing! It was then so easy to drive a minute across the highway for the amazing views on Old Frank Road before we headed over to Lundbreck Falls.

We really appreciated being able to spend so much time with just Heather and Levi (who chose not to have a wedding party). The two of them are so madly in love and natural together, constantly melting into each other arms. Levi’s range of emotions and Heather’s ear to ear grin as she approached him in the aisle really showed how crazy they are for each other.

Congratulations, Levi and Heather!

Crowsnest Pass Night Time Wedding [Desirée & Craig]

Desiree and Craig, Crowsnest Pass night time wedding

Desirée and Craig wanted to reflect their love for the live music scene by hosting a Crowsnest Pass night time wedding at The Greenhill Hotel in Blairmore. With Craig being a musician, their concert-themed wedding was perfect! In addition to closing out the evening with an open jam stage with their friends, their decorations were accented with records and musical notes.

I noticed back at their engagement session that they have such huge emotions around each other and the wedding day was no exception. Craig was so overwhelmed during the ceremony while Des acted as his rock, wiping away his tears. They later had this hilarious exchange…

Des: Are you okay to drive?
Craig: I haven’t been drinking…
Des: I mean emotionally!

One special touch in their wedding was how much they included Desirée’s son. Not only was he their ring bearer, but he joined them in a hug after the first kiss and had a special marriage certificate to take part in the signing of.

Congratulations, Desirée and Craig!

p.s. Special thanks to Nate at Rydography for filling in for Cam as second shooter / assistant!

Coleman Winter Engagement Photography [Erik & Alena]

Coleman winter engagement photography

Though Erik and Alena are from Calgary, they are passionate about the mountains and want everything about their wedding to be based on that majestic landscape. We decided to start out with Coleman winter engagement photography as their first session, hoping for the heavy snow that is typical of February. Imagine our surprise when February rolled around with record highs! Luckily the Miner’s Path is tucked away enough with little sunlight during the winter and the creek was still completely frozen. With some careful angles we made it look like winter never really left!

Crowsnest Pass Summer Family Portraits [Ava, Tennille & Jim]

Crowsnest Pass summer family portraits

Tennille and Jim met up with me just before their first anniversary to get some new Crowsnest Pass family portraits done with their cute daughter Ava and luckily the weather was much warmer than the day of their wedding, despite the fact the first snowfall of the season had just melted the day before!

Ava has grown up so much since I last photographed them and is already starting playschool… where has the time gone?? She enjoyed herself the most when she was playing peekaboo, hide and go seek, or being spun around, so every photo had to involve a game!

We first went for a little off road exploring to get gorgeous views of Crowsnest Mountain and the river, then headed to the Frank Slide Interpretive Centre to play hide and seek in the trees and rocks.

Crowsnest Pass family portraits on old Frank Road

The Andersens have been a part of my life before I was born (my mom was even a bridesmaid at their wedding!) so it was so fun all these years later to get everyone together for family photos. We greatly appreciated how far down the boys had to come for the visit :) We had a gorgeous day in the Crowsnest Pass and did the photos along the old road that runs through the Frank Slide. It was the perfect location as all the dogs got to have a joyous swim in the river halfway through! (more…)
