Paradise Canyon Summer Wedding [Mark & Shelly]

Mark and Shelly, Paradise Canyon summer wedding

While most of our weddings this year had a huge chance of being rained out, Shelly and Mark’s Paradise Canyon summer wedding never once had that threat. Instead they had an amazing hot day for their outdoor ceremony at the golf course.

They chose to hold both their ceremony and reception at the scenic Paradise Canyon Golf Resort, overlooking the coulees. With Mark’s family travelling a far distance to attend the wedding, it was fitting they got to spend this special day in such a distinct Lethbridge landscape!

It was amazing seeing Shelly and Mark interact with each other. While they are normally very collected people, they couldn’t hold back their emotions at times like seeing each other down the aisle and sharing emotional speeches. I love photographing criers ;)

Congratulations, Mark and Shelly!

Park Lake Country Engagement Session [Denise & Koos]

Park Lake country engagement session

Denise and Koos wanted country-inspired photos but loved the idea of going to the lake, so we combined them into a Park Lake country engagement session! It was such a beautiful evening at Park Lake and felt like summer was finally here :)

I couldn’t get over how sweet Denise and Koos are together. Their love was so obvious even though they are a quiet and reserved couple. You can see it in the way they embrace and the way they smile at each other. Plus, you know how crazy Koos is for Denise when he hates having his photo taken but did awesome through the session!

I can’t wait for their wedding this spring!

Waterton Extended Family Photos [Janet & the Kids]

Waterton extended family photos

Janet planned a wonderful trip with her children and their families over the long weekend. The whole family spent their weekend visiting Waterton and while there decided to have extended family photos done.

We started out our session at the Prince of Wales Hotel cliffs where “windy” doesn’t begin to describe the gusts that day! (I think that was our trade-off for narrowly escaping the forecast of rain.) We made our time there short so the children wouldn’t hate us too much… just enough time to get a few photos with the amazing view :)

The rest of the portrait session was spent at the gorgeous Cameron Falls, where we managed to sneak in right at dinner time when all the tourists were disappearing. The kids LOVED chasing the many chipmunks there so even when they got tired of photos, they had some good stress relief. It was amazing to see the love between Janet and her family. They are so special to her and she was so elated having everyone together.

SpringBreak Flower Farm Wedding [Travis & Stephanie]

Travis & Stephanie, SpringBreak Flower Farm Wedding

When Stephanie and I rode the school bus together many years ago, I never imagined I’d one day be rolling around in the damp grass photographing her wedding! Her and Travis had a gorgeous SpringBreak Flower Farm wedding and though their ceremony was forced inside from the threat of rain, we were lucky to be able to do all their photos outside. We were especially lucky seeing as how the day before there were tornado warnings!

It was amazing watching the interactions they had with their friends and family as they got ready for the day. I can’t count the number of times people almost broke out in tears, but always managed to catch themselves just in time not to wreck their makeup ;)

One very special part of the day was the inclusion of their dogs (their babies, of course!) Lucky and Luka. The dogs even had a special part in the ceremony as they walked down the aisle inside of SpringBreak garden centre and stood alongside the wedding party.

This was such a happy day for them and their wedding party was so energetic and happy, so they never had a chance to stop laughing.

Congratulations, Travis and Stephanie!

Pavan Park Carnival Wedding [Cayley & Kyle]

Kyle and Cayley, Lethbridge Pavan Park carnival wedding

Cayley and Kyle put so much thought and hard work into planning a Pavan Park carnival wedding, and they really went all out! John Martin Recreation Area in Pavan Park was the perfect location for their carnival when it was already equipped with a playground, horseshoe pits, and a volleyball court. All they had to do was bring a few more games to complete the fair grounds. In addition to the games, they had face painting, fun props for photos, and carnival themed food like popcorn, cotton candy, and hot dogs.

They included so many other personal details throughout the day. The cake and cupcakes were made by family members, while Cayley and her friends made all of the flowers themselves out of paper, some of which came from books belonging to Cayley’s grandmother.

After all that hard work, they were able to let loose and have so much fun! Despite the on-again, off-again rain, everyone was so happy and full of excitement throughout the day. The wedding party loved being in front of the camera. Cayley and Kyle have really found kindred spirits in each other with their playful, youthful personalities. It was so much fun to finish off the day with their wedding mosh pit!

Congratulations, Cayley and Kyle!

Rural Alberta Extended Family Photos [Luke & Lammie]

rural Alberta extended family photos

Before one of their children moved away, Luke and Lammie wanted to get the whole family together for a big summer portrait session. Their own farm made the perfect spot for their rural Alberta extended family photos. We had no shortage of locations with their beautiful garden rows, huge trees, and nearby fields… with just a few ant colonies to watch out for ;)

All of the siblings had so much fun goofing around together and after Lammie stuck her tongue out at Luke, you could tell where the kids get it from! The little kids were absolutely adorable and loved spending time at grandma and grandpa’s house for the afternoon.
