Fashion Shoot at the Pool

On Sunday I got to partake in one of the most exciting shoots I’ve ever done! A group of photographers made up of Lethbridge folk and Calgary Strobists got together with the U of L swimming team, a group of models, a fashion designer (Caitlin Power), a makeup artist, and a scuba diver (Chris) for what can only be described as epic. Michael Warf, Kevin Logan, Cody Belter, and I split off to do head shots of the swimmers while the other photogs set up for the fashion shoot, and then we all headed to the dive take window to take part. All the models and swim team must really be commended for the great work they did… their jobs were not easy!

A couple behind-the-scenes shots:

I would definitely love to do this again! It was a learning experience for all of us, and we’d be crazy fast at it the next time. I’d also shoot it all with a wide angle for the underwater shots instead of how I just switched at the end… maybe then I won’t be bummed over the lost feet and hands in my shots!

Hello Tanya, I love the shoot, as someone who is at the pool everyday I thought they were wonderfully refreshing. The guy on the blocks, were you just using the flash to overpower the pool lighting or were the pool lights dimmed?

Hi Ralph, the pool lights were slightly dimmed, but it was still quite bright in there (third from the bottom is the lighting we were working with)… we used flash to overpower things. I did a small amount of post on the blocks photo as there was still a bit of detail close to the foreground I wanted to get rid of.

    And thanks :)
