Crowsnest Pass Winter Wedding [Michelle & Oscar]
Michelle & Oscar traveled all the way from Calgary for their Crowsnest Pass “winter” wedding. It may have taken place in the spring, but it sure looked like winter! Just days before, and even the next day, the grass had been turning green and there were no more hints of winter. Out of no where came a heavy snowfall warning for all of southern Alberta. We definitely lucked out as a few places had more of a rainy snow, but the Crowsnest Pass looked like something out of a fairy tale. Plus, by the time we headed outside, most of the heavy snowfall had stopped, leaving only gorgeous snow covered landscapes.
The Crowsnest Pass was a perfect fit for their wedding as it allowed them to get married in the mountains and still include family in a special way. Their ceremony was performed at the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Blairmore by Michelle’s uncle. It was an intimate ceremony with their closest friends and family. Their ceremony was so emotional and full of so many happy tears and laughter.
After the ceremony, we explored the Crowsnest Pass with Oscar and Michelle and their two friends. It was fun having another couple as their bridal party because I could get them to be all cute and intimate too (normally that would be a little awkward!). They were so much fun and I loved all of the excitement they expressed over the landscapes. I sometimes take it for granted having grown up there, but they reminded me just how beautiful it is!
Oscar and Michelle are so sweet together and I know they are going to have such a happy life.
Congratulations, Oscar & Michelle!
Before their ceremony started, I was able to sneak in a few photos of their reception hall decoration downstairs. The gold was a beautiful touch to their wedding colors.
I think he would have loved to be in the church for the ceremony! He was very interested in what Michelle was up to :)
Michelle’s red boots were amazing! Sadly she couldn’t wear them outside in all the snow, but the few hours she had them on indoors were so worth it.
Even the church candles matched their wedding colors ;)
Michelle’s mom walked her down the aisle. You could tell Michelle was already trying to keep it together, and her mom talked her through it the whole way :)
Eventually all the tears came out…
… ALL the tears! Not many people held it together during their beautiful personal vows.
In addition to the full mass, they had a candle, veil, and cord ceremony.
They were brought to the beginning of the aisle for the first kiss, which was such a unique angle!
We did the family photos inside the church so everyone could stay warm.
Our first stop for portraits was up in the Frank Slide at the Interpretive Centre. The foggy clouds had lifted just enough that we could finally see the mountains peaking out, but still gave a beautiful dreamy effect in the background.
It’s such a beautiful view from the centre!
Michelle’s flowers really popped against the snow.
This mountain didn’t quite want to show itself yet ;)
Our next stops were throughout downtown Coleman. By now the snow had stopped and it was already so much warmer.
Coleman was a perfect fit for Oscar and Michelle’s wedding colors!
Oscar mentioned wanting to put one of these photos into their antique gold frame. I think they should make it infinite and get a photo of them holding that one on their anniversary and keep replacing the photo in the frame :)
The Miner’s Path looked so beautiful with all the snow. With it being spring, the creeks were mostly melted too.
We had a herd of deer check out what we were doing :)
Sticky spring snow is SO amazing for photos. We had more of a winter wonderland than I normally get in the actual winter!
I love the green pop of the moss covered tree behind them.
The dew could not have been more perfect if I had placed it there with an eye dropper :)
