Castle Mountain Summer Wedding [Shawn & Jori]
Early on it seemed like nature was conspiring against Jori and Shawn’s Castle Mountain summer wedding. On Thursday the air was hazy with smoke from the forest fires, and on Friday everyone had the shock of August snow! When Saturday rolled around, they got the beautiful summer weather they had hoped for with clear sunny skies.
Jori and Shawn are so passionate together, having their portraits secluded in the forest was just such a natural fit for them. I had immediately noticed how romantic they were at their engagement session, but it was even more so with all of the wedding day emotions.
Castle Mountain Resort was such a beautiful choice for their wedding venue and I hope we can go back there soon.
Congratulations, Shawn and Jori!
Shawn and his groomsmen finished getting ready outside so they could multi-task with cigars.
Jori had custom shoes AND wine!
The boys quickly looked for some fish before Jori arrived.
Jori and Shawn arranged to have a private first look in the woods, away from all of their friends and family. Jori and I happened to get a little lost on the way there, but thanks to many kind people shouting directions at us from their cabins we found our way in time for their emotional meeting.
I think this is the most romantic first look location we have ever used :)
It was such a gorgeous, calm day.
The snow the night before left a beautiful dusting on the mountains.
Cam is committed to the job! He was wet all the way up to his butt after this :)
After a few portraits of Jori and Shawn alone, their wedding party joined us.
A giant kiss attack! :)
Jori is very adventurous and insisted on climbing and balancing on several logs for photos :)
After their portraits were finished, we headed over to their outdoor ceremony.
They sealed their vows in with a bottle of wine to enjoy at a future anniversary.
Their first kiss was so passionate that the marriage commissioner had to tell them to stop ;)
Their reception continued their theme of green accents and forest elements. They did their own beautiful flower arrangements.
Each table place card depicted a different animal and were drawn by Jori’s sister. She’s so talented!
Their delicious cakes were made by Whippt in Calgary and featured subtle tree designs and adorable bears for a cake topper.
Quests End DJ did a great job keeping everyone dancing all night. It’s not often we see the dance floor that full!
Our future competition? :) His dad later thanked us for letting him “job shadow” us all night!
We were able to steal Jori and Shawn away for a few evening portraits. We had spent all afternoon in the forest, so it was time to show some of those mountains!
Here is their slideshow:
Jori and Shawn, what joy and emotion there was when we viewed these stunning pictures of your wedding day. I lived this memorable and beautiful day all over again, and Don had his first opportunity to see our darling niece looking so absolutely beautiful and our new nephew filled with happiness. Thank you for sharing these with us.
