Bayshore Inn Outdoor Wedding Ceremony in Waterton [Julia & Kyle]
Our summer of smoky skies hit its peak for Kyle and Julia’s wedding. The day before their Bayshore Inn outdoor wedding ceremony, the town of Waterton was put under evacuation alert due to a new nearby fire! Luckily the conditions held and everything went ahead as planned. (The happy ending is the next day saw a huge downpour that helped to lift the alert!)
Julia and Kyle have a love at first sight story and continue to look at each other with that intensity. Both of them were so emotional at the ceremony, quickly shifting from happy tears to giant smiles.
Their wedding party kept them laughing all day and made the best use of their half day in Waterton by exploring the landscape. From going barefoot in the water to using downed trees as balance beams, they made use of all the nature around them! Kyle and Julia have such special relationships with their family that their siblings are also considered friends to each of them and were an obvious choice to have in their party.
Once we completed photos in Waterton, we drove out to Cardston for their tent reception at Kyle’s dad’s ranch where they were free to party all night.
Congratulations, Julia and Kyle!

Kyle had customized cufflinks with his initials.
This bottle of champagne came with a surprisingly difficult cork, so it was a surprise when it finally popped! My photos can’t capture how comically long it took so I hope the process appears unedited on their wedding video ;)
This was the first sign this flower girl would not be performing her duties at the ceremony.

Why make your lovely bride walk all that way in heels?
Not all of the kids were in support of this photo ;)
A bald eagle flew over us during family portraits. The eagle is very symbolic to their family so we could not have asked for a more beautiful moment!
Not everyone made it across their balance walk.
When I chatted with them about their wedding timeline, I could have sworn Kyle said he wanted to get photos of Julia on “her” horse. Imagine my surprise when Julia was only introduced to Sparky that day and announced she had never been on a horse before!
Everyone did amazing – Julia was brave going side saddle in a mermaid style dress on a saddle not designed for that, Kyle expertly led them around with his last minute rein-holding lesson, and Sparky was super chill and easy to ride despite his name and electric blue eyes.
Everyone celebrated Julia’s successful first horse ride!
Kyle’s grandmother welcomed Julia into the family with a beautiful First Nations tradition. The buffalo hide they stood on has been in their family for many generations and Kyle’s father began the smudging with a special eagle feather.
You know they are focused when both tongues are sticking out.
Food fight!
After the food fight, it’s only right to clean the cake pieces out of your bride’s eyelashes.
Kyle and Julia love music festivals, so they turned their reception into a huge dance party… Kyle even took some time out of dancing to DJ!
