Crowsnest Pass Misty Mountain Destination Engagement [Brietta & Sam]

A surprise April snowfall didn’t dampen Brietta’s spirits when I told her the forecast.

“I bought a dress,” Brietta said. “I am going to wear it anyways! Haha.”

I’ve known Brietta for a few years, I first met her when she was the Event & Volunteer Engagement Coordinator for the MS Walk when I did volunteer photography for the walk. Brietta’s fiery; a go-getter. So her resolve to embrace the moment didn’t surprise me one bit!

Capturing the Love

Sam and Brietta are a bit like yin and yang. She’s a vivacious, energetic blonde, and he’s a tall, dark and handsome kind of guy.

Sam had moved to Canada from Brazil and was living in Iron Springs, where its rural location made it understandably hard to meet people. After trying out online dating, the two discovered each other and decided to meet for coffee. Their chemistry was instantaneous.

“I remember seeing him pull up and giggled (I might have fist pumped) because I felt I had hit the jackpot. Sam was even better looking in real life!” Brietta fondly said about their first date.

“She was a charismatic girl with a great personality. I had good luck.” Sam said.

After dating a little over two years, Sam decided to seal the deal.

Bakon’s proposal

Sam and Brietta’s sidekick Bakon the dog, is an integral part of their family. So, when Sam decided to propose, he called on Bakon’s assistance for the big moment.

Brietta said, “I was greeted by Bakon running towards me in a little black tuxedo with a ring holder on his back. Looking behind him, Sam was on one knee.”

And so, it seemed only fitting for Bakon the dog to be a part of Sam and Brietta’s engagement photos in the Crowsnest Pass too!

More than mountains

The Crowsnest Pass is breathtaking, even covered in a layer of snow. But the raw mountainous beauty wasn’t the only reason Brietta was determined to have her mountain destination engagement photos here.

Brietta spent much of her childhood visiting her grandmother in the Crowsnest Pass and so it’s this connection to family which also compelled her here. I share Brietta’s love for the Crowsnest Pass because I grew up out here – it was my backyard and I understand how a heart can feel so pulled back to this area.

Though Crowsnest Mountain was covered with a thick, moody fog, we weren’t short on places to snap some scenic photos. From the Hillcrest Mines with the iconic Turtle Mountain in the background, to Old Frank Road at Frank Slide, and of course, Crowsnest Lake, Sam and Brietta’s photos came out like misty mountain magic!

September wedding bells

I’m looking forward to shooting Sam and Brietta’s wedding this September, and I know we’ll have an equally wonderful time. And, I’ve no doubt the show-stealing Bakon the dog will be dressed to the nines and ready for his close up, too!

Happy Engagement, Sam and Brietta!

Lethbridge Engagement Photography

Sam and Brietta’s engagement session with their beloved dog Bakon turned out magical as I’ve experienced. And though the weather was doing its own thing (a common occurrence here in Southern Alberta ;)) and the fog was obscuring almost everything, their love was obvious, and really shone through in the photos.

I love capturing special moments like engagements for couples, and especially in and around Lethbridge. There’s plenty of great locations to choose from both in and outside the city, and I would love to work with you, especially if you’re planning a mountain destination engagement photoshoot!
