Snowy Heritage Acres Wedding [Brietta & Samuel]
When Brietta and Samuel had planned their autumn wedding, they had visions of golden colours and warm sunshine, not the snowy Heritage Acres wedding they ended up with.
There’s something about doing photos with Brietta and Samuel that always makes it snow! While snow in April for their engagement session wasn’t seasonally inappropriate, a September blizzard to rival the ones we get in winter came as a bit of a surprise! Brietta and Sam had chosen September for their wedding date for it to be more reliably warm than October. Sam had many family members and friends travelling from Brazil to share the day with them and they had hoped not to shock them with cold weather! The Brazilian guests didn’t mind and spent all day laughing (and shivering, especially shivering) because for many of them, it was the first time they had ever seen snow. They experienced a delightfully stereotypical Canadian trip!
The weather required a few modifications to their wedding. Brietta’s dad found a way to vent heat into their venue. You see, their barn reception venue is only used during warmer months and not heated! The wedding party gifts were not intended to be so seasonally appropriate but definitely came in handy that everyone received embroidered wool socks and scarves! They were meant to be a keepsake and instead became part of the day’s wardrobe, while perfectly matching their burgundy wedding colours.
Despite the weather, Brietta and Sam had the most amazing day. Emotions flowed freely all day and nearly everyone cried at some point during the reception. Their wedding party were amazing supports who wiped the snow off the couple, helped them through snow banks, and pumped up the music in the limo to get everyone feeling warm again. The blending of families and cultures was truly a cause for celebration.
The wedding day was too chaotic for their beloved dog Bakon to come along, but he was there in his own special way by leaving fur on all the bridesmaids’ clothes earlier that day, having many special mentions during speeches, and having his own section in the reception slideshow.
