Double Proposal Engagement Photos in Lethbridge [Melinda & Gage]
Melinda’s secret plan to propose to her boyfriend Gage during their session turned into an even bigger surprise for her with double proposal engagement photos!
As far as Gage knew (or so we thought), he and Melinda were going to have a couples photoshoot in the river bottom…
As for most proposal sessions, it’s nice to start with some unassuming photos to work through the nerves and let your partner think this is a regular, every day photoshoot.
Melinda and Gage had hoped for fall photos in late October, but the weather decided otherwise. Luckily I was able to get low enough that we could pretend there was no snow in a few spots!
In the weeks leading up to their couples session, Melinda and I worked out how the engagement was going to take place. We were ready to go with special phrases and locations to cue her into action. First, her and Gage would trade places being the focus of the photo.
This was Melinda’s cue to get the ring ready, which she could show off before he knew anything was up.
Then it was time to ask! Gage looked happy, but less surprised than I had anticipated…
He then rushed over to his coat and whipped out his own ring box!
I was as surprised as Melinda ;)
Gage admitted he had accidentally seen Melinda’s texts to a friend about what she had planned, so he knew he had to be ready… he just didn’t know when in the photoshoot it was going to happen!
Of course we had to stage one of them proposing to each other at the same time ;)
Disguising your marriage proposal as a regular couples photoshoot is a great way to get photos of when you ask the question!
