Lethbridge Weddings & Portrait Photography by Tanya Plonka

Dammy and Jeff had a private backyard elopement in Edmonton, and then saved all of their fancy photos for when they were back in Lethbridge. This made everything so laid back! We did their Lethbridge wedding portraits at Nicholas Sheran Lake where they brought along some of their wedding floral arrangements and set up a mini wedding site in the park.

Dammy’s son David was of course an integral part of their day as they enter their blended family, but we made sure he got to take lots of breaks so he wouldn’t get bored by the end ;)

After we finished with their wedding attire, the family put on more casual outfits and we headed to the High Level Bridge. Dammy wanted to have something “very Lethbridge” to celebrate her time here before she moved to Edmonton full time, and nothing says Lethbridge like the bridge!

MJ and Dan decided to get all the big things out of the way at once by having their McKillop United Church wedding at the same time they are doing a massive garage renovation! You’d never know they had so much on their plate by how happy and laid back they were throughout the wedding day. They even had the added stress of their initial ceremony location falling through, but they rolled with the situation and McKillop United wonderfully came to the rescue at the last minute.

The couple chose a classic wedding look with a monochromatic colour scheme. MJ loves bling and choose the perfect dress and shoes to show that off! We had lots of time for photos so we were able to visit both Henderson Lake and the coulees before returning to their reception at the Coast. Dan is a car guy so it was an added bonus they had extra time to cruise around in their limo!

Vanessa and Robert started their family’s album anthology with matching album designs of their wedding, maternity, and first family photos. It’s a significant first heirloom for their family and was so much fun to create a cohesive set! This was my first time designing a set of matching wedding and family anthology albums. Usually the design process takes place at different times between the milestones and certain features get discontinued from companies. Being able to do this these all at once meant matching everything right down to the leather choices and layout themes!

Ashley and Stefan’s wedding may have set a new record for the amount of people crying at a wedding. I love all that emotion! Their Galt Museum ceremony and reception took place at the end of summer, where they travelled back to their hometown area of Lethbridge to be closer to family. This also meant access to gorgeous classic cars, and a stylized rental home for getting ready in!

It was such a pleasure to work with this family again. Although it was my first time meeting Ashley’s family, it was obvious why they are such a good fit with Stefan’s. Both families are so kind and welcoming, and also ready to break out into side splitting laughter. While listening to stories from early in Ashley and Stefan’s relationship, it was clear the couple prioritizes each other and knew what a perfect match they were right from the beginning. (Plus bonus points that they met how Cam and I met!)

Prescilla and Dane planned their entire Payne Lake summer wedding so that they could enjoy the beautiful views outside of Waterton Park all day. They rented a property along the lake so that they could have everything in one place! After getting ready at the house, they had their ceremony at the lakeside with a tented outdoor reception right next to it. It’s so beautiful there that we didn’t even need to leave for photos in another location!

Their son Levi played an important part in the day, standing in the wedding party with Dane. We made sure he was included in a bunch of their portraits, and I only made him hold his mom’s hand a couple times! They are already established as a family, and this wedding was just to officially celebrate that.

The entire day was full of laughter and many failed attempts to keep things PG. Their dogs partied harder than all of the other guests combined and were passed out before the reception even started.

Skye and Dave held their Lethbridge County farm wedding at their own place. It made the outdoor event so much more meaningful for them and their guests, and meant the dogs got to take part throughout the day. Just like at their engagement session, their dogs were absolutely excited about everything. Once they got used to all the people there, the dogs followed us around for photos and were easily distracted with a game of fetch.

A lot of work had been done since I was last at their farm. Dave cleaned up all of the areas we had discussed using for portraits, and Skye put so much work into the flower arrangements throughout their yard. They decorated their back patio and yard with hanging lights for an evening outdoor reception, and created a beautiful laid back country wedding.
