A weekend in the Crowsnest Pass

August 11th, 2008

Last weekend I managed to go back home for a few days, and take some photos I’ve been itching to do for some time! There really aren’t enough free weekends during wedding season to go to the CNP, and then it’s just too cold.

First I started with some light painting, and my mom helped as my assistant :)

Zombie Pinups: Karla

July 20th, 2008

I want to send a HUGE thank you to Karla for being my first zombie pinup!

The idea was first spawned many years ago by a family friend, Monique Motil (a super talented San Francisco artist), and when I found out about it I knew I had to partake!

If you are interested in being a zombie pinup, PLEASE contact me at (info at tanyaplonka.com). You must have a retro dress/undies, be able to do your own zombie makeup (I can help if you have the supplies), and not care if people stare at you!

David Usher, The New Odds, and Shaun Verreault

July 11th, 2008

I’ve been dying to post these, but I had to wait till my site was finished and transferred!

Last month I saw an amazing 90s revival show: Shaun Verreault (Wide Mouth Mason), The (New) Odds, and David Usher played a killer line-up that had me drooling. They are all fantastic performers, but Shaun is hands down always my favorite. I was disappointed he didn’t make love to his guitar like he does with Wide Mouth Mason, but those lungs! Oh man!

What an amazing band!!

Concert photos (February to April)

April 21st, 2008

Phew, I just finally caught up on going through all my live shots. I think I don’t have time to keep doing it this way anymore. I’ve been doing it the way I do it for so long that it’s hard to give up on the idea, and frankly it has always been a really great (free) marketing tool. The bands are happy to see their photos, and since they are able to copy the photos over to their MySpace pages my name gets around. My passion for concert photography was what made me decide to become a photographer and Supermarket Trashbin is what made me known. However, it might be time to move on. I still want to show my live shots, but I may have to pick the best few from every month or two, and make a quick flash gallery out of them.

Your opinion?
