Waterton Family Photography Session [Bev & Dwight]

Waterton family photography

Waterton is a special place for Bev and Dwight. Over the years, they’ve returned to the national park as their family has grown, first by children and then grandchildren. Bev spent some of her time reminiscing about how her and Dwight used to go there when it was just the two of them! This year they added a Waterton family photography session to their visit.

It was so adorable seeing how much their grandchildren loved spending time with them. Everyone vied for seats in their vintage car between photo locations!

We went on lots of fun adventures in Waterton, starting with the cliffs behind the Prince of Wales Hotel and then exploring along the beaches (with just a touch of rock climbing!). It was a beautiful day in the park and luckily all the storms just missed us.

Everyone got to follow up their photoshoot with lunch and beach time!

Lethbridge Scottish Highland Ball family photos

Fiona and David’s family love celebrating their heritage. One of their favorite ways to do so is with the Scottish Highland Ball that is held in Lethbridge.

The dance, put on by the Lethbridge Scottish Country Dance Club, is a big affair including a grand march led by a piper, dancing to a live band, and a delicious dinner at the Sandman Signature Hotel.

For the event, everyone dresses in full kilts and ball gowns. Even the little kids take part! This makes the day a perfect opportunity to update their family photos.

Vivianne’s 85th Birthday and Easter Family Reunion in Lethbridge

Easter family reunion Lethbridge

Vivianne and her family had many reasons to celebrate when they got together over the long weekend. The Easter weekend falling later this year meant it coincided with Vivianne’s landmark 85th birthday, as well as several other family members’ birthdays! Everyone decided that it would therefore be a perfect chance to plan a family reunion.

Several of the Lethbridge family members graciously hosted everyone for the weekend. I joined the family just before one of their lunches. We rounded everyone into the green space behind the house for their formal extended family photos, and had to be very careful to avoid all of the wild animal droppings! (That park is clearly a favorite hangout spot of local deer.) Although a few family members sadly couldn’t attend that weekend, it was still momentous getting that many together all at once!

Pavan Park extended family photos

To celebrate Beatrix’s baptism, all of her family reunited in Lethbridge! She got to spend the day with both sets of grandparents and all of her aunts, uncles, and cousins on her mom and dad’s side of the family. While everyone was together again, they decided to book Pavan Park extended family photos. After a few sketchy days of nearly being rained out, we met on a beautiful morning in the river bottom. I think Beatrix was a little too tiny to appreciate all her family visiting, but her sister and all her cousins had a great time finally seeing each other again!

Lethbridge pink blossom family mini session

The last time I photographed Jennifer and David’s family, it was just the three of them with Kalina. This time we had four with their newest family member, Erwin! As a special addition to their Lethbridge pink blossom family mini session, Grandma and Grandpa came along for a few photos. Kalina hardly left her grandma’s side, leading her around by the hand whenever they weren’t in photos together. Their grandparents were masters at getting them to laugh!

Indian Battle Park extended family photography

This Indian Battle Park extended family photography session was a Christmas gift that was meant to take place outdoors back in December, but it was -30C the entire time the family was together! They made the wise decision to postpone until spring when everyone could actually be happy and comfortable in the photos. After a heavy rainfall earlier that day, everything was so green and fresh in the river bottom!

Three generations got together for this family session. The middle generation are part of a blended family, so they had both sets of their parents involved. Without my handy list of how everyone is related, it would have been impossible to tell sibling from cousin, sister from step sister, etc. Even all of the people who married into the family get along so comfortably with everyone that it’s hard to tell who is the sibling and who is the spouse! Everyone makes up one tightly knit family despite moving away, having children of their own, and seeing less of each other. This was such a great environment for the little kids who were happy to run to anyone there for comfort!
