Lethbridge Sandman Signature Hotel Autumn Wedding [Stacie & Gerrit]

Stacie and Gerrit, Lethbridge Sandman Signature Hotel Autumn Wedding

Stacie and Gerrit planned a romantic Lethbridge Sandman Signature Hotel autumn wedding with dark grays with deep red accents, all of which looked striking with the fall colours. In mid-October, we’re never quite sure what weather we’re going to get. Stacie and Gerrit were treated to all of the weather! The temperatures climbed early in the day, along with quite a windstorm that drove us indoors for family portraits. We refused to hide from the weather all day and sought shelter in the Helen Schuler Nature Reserve.

While Stacie and Gerrit laughed and had a great time with their wedding party in the river bottom (along with a lot of getting lost in each other’s eyes), the sky became blacker and blacker until we started hearing thunder and seeing lightning! We finished their photos in a downpour before rushing back to the safety of the hotel.

Their reception was filled with so many sweet stories from their families. Wedding receptions usually turn into a bit of a roast, but theirs was mostly a celebration of how loved they are by everyone around them (with a healthy dose of roasting from their siblings).

They took a break from their reception at the Sandman Signature Hotel (formerly the Lethbridge Lodge) for night time photos. Luckily by then the rain had stopped, and the snow hadn’t quite started yet! Stacie and Gerrit embraced tightly on the edge of the coulees – partly to stay warm but mostly because it meant they finally had a moment alone together :)

Congratulations, Stacie and Gerrit!

Norland Estate Wedding Portraits in Lethbridge [Robyn & Wayne]

Robyn and Wayne, Norland Estate wedding portraits

Robyn and Wayne chose a beautiful, warm spring day to have their wedding. After they were married at the Lethbridge NRC Church, they and their familes joined us for Norland Estate wedding portraits. The property was so lush with all the fresh spring growth. We finished off their portraits at Henderson Lake to make use of the gorgeous lilac bushes.

They included so many classic and romantic elements in their wedding day. Robyn’s dress had beautiful lace sleeves and details, and her bouquet featured soft pastel colours. Wayne wore a well tailored navy suit with black trim and they brought along a family member’s burgandy vintage Volvo car as their wedding day ride. The Norland and this car went so well together!

Both Robyn and Wayne have such calm, kind personalities and a beautiful gentleness together. Whenever they thought they weren’t being watched, they were constantly giggling together :)

Congratulations, Robyn and Wayne!

Jessica & Josiah, Lethbridge Trinity Reformed Church Wedding

Just one day after second shooting for Melanie, I got to do it again with Kassey from Red Tree Photography! This time we had a Trinity Reformed Church wedding with Jessica and Josiah, who met at college and fell in love. Josiah’s family travelled from Ontario to meet Jessica’s Alberta family and have their beautiful ceremony at Jess’s family’s church.

Jessica and Josiah looked amazing, especially with her flower crown and his red bow tie. We took the wedding party to Indian Battle Park for portraits after the ceremony, then just the bride and groom downtown before heading to their reception at the Coast Hotel.

Congratulations, Jess and Josiah!

Intimate Southminster United Church Chapel Wedding [Mandy & Chris]

Mandy and Chris, Intimate Southminster United Church chapel wedding

Mandy and Chris had an intimate Southminster United Church chapel wedding in the evening. They included so many unique touches in their ceremony. In place of a sand ceremony, they poured their favorite gummy candies together with their boys, and at the end served their guests champagne in custom flutes with a toast to their friends and family.

After the ceremony, we went out for photos with them and their boys. The boys had so much fun exploring the coulees that their clean suits didn’t stay that way for very long! All it did was add to the realism of what daily life is like ;)

Despite the smokey air, Mandy and Chris were in amazing spirits and so elated to be in each other’s company. Mandy was constantly bursting into happy laughter whenever Chris held or kissed her!

Congratulations, Mandy and Chris!

Readymade Community Centre Summer Wedding [Adam & Dianne]

Dianne and Adam, Readymade Community Centre Summer Wedding

Adam and Dianne love the landscape around where they grew up and incorporated it into their Readymade Community Centre summer wedding. All of the rustic walls and buildings around Dianne’s family farm made for great photo backdrops, and her parents house with grand staircase was the perfect spot to have their first look.

Just around the corner from the farm are Readymade and Stafford Park so we didn’t have to go far (we only had to carefully photograph around the people tubing at the lake!). Just after photos, they had their ceremony at the Canadian Reformed Church in Coaldale.

Dianne looked so elegant in her lace wedding dress with a low back and her beautiful auburn hair let down. Adam could not stop grinning at her! He continued stealing glances at her through the whole ceremony even though they had spent the last three hours lovingly looking at each other for photos. In their reception program, they described Adam as “very tall” and Dianne as “not so tall” – so during portraits we made Adam be the one to bridge the height distance to kiss his gorgeous bride ;)

Congratulations, Dianne and Adam!

Lethbridge Greek Orthodox Wedding [Sophia & Alki]

Sophia and Alki, Lethbridge Greek Orthodox Wedding

Sophia and Alki held their Lethbridge Greek Orthodox wedding on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Their day was the epitome of celebration! The entire day was full of dancing, singing, and laughter. Not once did the smile fade from Sophia’s face!

Once both of them were finished getting ready, Alki arrived at Sophia’s house to see her for the first time and escort her and her bridesmaids to the church. It was a beautiful greeting with lots of flowers and singing. Their intimate ceremony at the Orthodox Church had Sophia so happy that even when she tried to be serious, she burst out into a larger grin :)

With their reception taking place at the Galt Museum, they were able to make use of the surrounding beauty of the landscape with portraits in Indian Battle Park and, later on, a quick session on the edge of the coulees at sunset.

The music was a huge highlight of their party that evening. Sophia composed their first dance waltz, sang a special song for Alki, and they were serenaded by family members with congratulatory songs. They finished off the evening with lots of fun Greek dancing!

Congratulations, Sophia and Alki!
