High Level Bridge multi-generation family photos in Lethbridge

Chris and Richard planned for High Level Bridge multi-generation family photos while their family was visiting for the weekend. These photos were long overdue since it had been 13 years since their last family session!

Many family members have moved away from Lethbridge, but still have a fondness for the city’s biggest landmark. The river bottom along the Lethbridge Viaduct was therefore the best place to choose for photos.

Their family came prepared with lots of fun props, including the big picture frame they could use to show off their children and grandkids!

Picture Butte Farm Photos [Chris and Len’s Family]

Picture Butte farm photos

To celebrate their parents’ 40th wedding anniversary, Chris and Len’s children and grandchildren made a special trip back home. This would be a great time for photos! They spent some time debating where to do their session, and finally decided on Picture Butte farm photos at the family’s home. This meant an easy day for the grandkids not needing to travel, adding an extra layer of sentimental value to their photos, and having the beautiful grove of trees as a backdrop!

The kids resisted the lure of the play area just long enough for the groups we needed, mostly thanks to help from their moms to keep them occupied and happy in between poses. As soon as they were out of the frame, the kids could be found jumping around and climbing on the trees.

Chris and Len beamed with pride watching their family play. They wouldn’t have wanted to celebrate their anniversary any other way!

Crowsnest Pass portrait session

Charlene and Terry had a very emotional session with their family. This sweet mother, wife, and grandmother had recently entered palliative care. Knowing they had the gift of time, her children planned their Hillcrest family photos so they could capture some last beautiful memories with her in photos.

It was important to do the photos where she raised her children in the Crowsnest Pass, so we chose a beautiful spot down by the creek in Hillcrest. (It’s such a small world that her daughter lives several houses down from me in Lethbridge, and here we were travelling to our shared home town.) The family made a very big exception for physical distancing that day because it was important to snuggle in close to Charlene and show how much she was loved.

Indian Battle Park Anniversary Family Photos [Peggy & Lourens]

Indian Battle Park anniversary family photos

Peggy and Lourens celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary last year and thought that would be a great time to get the gang together for anniversary family photos! The group has grown by quite a few little members since our last session, which meant a lot more dancing around and silly songs by the adults this time.

The little kids did great considering they all wanted to run around and explore the nature park instead of pose (especially the littlest ones who had just learned to walk), but many aunts and uncles came to the rescue.

To switch things up from last time, we visited Indian Battle Park in Lethbridge. One thing that was like their last session was the risk of being rained out again! We had better luck though and no umbrellas were needed this year :)

It’s been such an honour watching this family grow, and I hope to follow them through their next 30 years of anniversaries!

Nicholas Sheran Family Reunion Photos [Bonnie & Her Family]

Nicholas Sheran family reunion photos

For Bonnie’s birthday, her family traveled from far and wide to celebrate. After Ribfest changed their original location plans, they decided to have a Nicholas Sheran family reunion on the west side. Since much of the family is from south of Lethbridge, visiting the lake was a new experience for many of them and they were so happy with their choice!

After a picnic lunch, everyone changed into their photo clothes for a big group photo. Bonnie was thrilled being around her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren! She is so proud of her family. She definitely enjoyed being the focus of the party! Everyone made sure a steady stream of homemade cookies came her way.

After photos it was back to playtime and I stuck around to take candid photos of the family having fun and enjoying the super hot day at Nicholas Sheran Lake.

University of Lethbridge Indoor Grandparents Photo Session [Bob & Linda]

University of Lethbridge indoor grandparents photo session

It’s a big deal when Bob and Linda come to visit! These sweet grandparents live in northern Canada, but their grandson and his family and sister are in Lethbridge while he completes his degree. Bob and Linda planned a special trip to see their great grandchildren and have a family photo session while they were in the city.

We picked the University of Lethbridge as our backdrop both because of the wind and because the location is meaningful while Ken goes to school there. (Usually my clients get a little worried about getting lost on campus, but Ken easily knew his way around!) We explored the new Science Commons building and the kids loved all the elevator rides!

Bob’s great grandson is named after him, so he brought along special matching embroidered hats for the two of them to wear. I’m only disappointed the elder Bob didn’t have bright green hair like his great grandson ;)
