outdoor newborn family photos

One of the best parts of summer is being able to move newborn sessions outside! Teegan and Tanner scheduled their outdoor newborn family photos just after Jaxton arrived.

Their adorable kids were so happy to welcome him to their home. His oldest sister begged for multiple chances to hold him in photos because she is so in love with him! Taking photos in the Helen Schuler nature reserve gave everyone chances to explore and take fun breaks when we spent some extra time focusing on Jaxton by himself and with mom and dad.

Lethbridge birthday family reunion

Steva celebrated turning 90 in a very special way with a combination birthday family reunion. With family members coming from out of town, everyone was able to reunite to celebrate this special lady’s momentous birthday.

The family all joined me in Indian Battle Park on this beautiful evening, and we took the opportunity to photograph each individual family as well as everyone together. Four generations got together for this birthday family reunion. Steva was able to get cute photos with her and all of her great grandchildren together.

Happy birthday, Steva!

Lethbridge river bottom family photography

Anna and John managed to get their whole family together for one weekend and celebrated the rare occurance with Lethbridge river bottom family photography. John received the VIP treatment as he had recently injured his foot and was wheeled from location to location by his grandchildren. All of the kids loved playing together and being able to spend time with their cousins, while the aunts and uncles taught the kids silly nicknames for each other. I was so happy we were able to organize everyone at the last minute for photos in Indian Battle Park!

Henderson Lake Wedding Photos [Jody & Corné]

Jody & Corne, Henderson Lake Wedding Photos

Jody & Corné’s wedding took place on one of the warmest and most calm days this summer, fitting the mood of their laid back wedding. After their ceremony at the Lethbridge NRC Church, we met back up for portraits to make use of the beautiful weather. Their Henderson Lake wedding photos were a perfect place to start as their first date had taken place at the lake. We visited the bridge that Jody best remembered from that day. It was such a cute way to come full circle!

Their small wedding party were fantastic supports for the day. They picked up milkshakes for everyone when the sun got too hot and were constantly joking with the couple throughout photos. However, when they weren’t around, Jody & Corné had no trouble making each other laugh and smile!

Congratulations, Jody & Corné!

Fort Macleod Farm Wedding Photos [Tacey & Brendan]

Tacey & Brendan, Fort Macleod farm wedding photos

Tacey and Brendan planned a romantic and fun morning of photos before heading to their ceremony. They had their first look on her family’s Fort Macleod farm. Once their families were ready, everyone met us outside for portraits and we explored the farm while an adorable assortment of curious animals followed us.

After doing weddings for over 12 years, I’m always surprised when I encounter something new. This was my first time doing bridal portraits with a cow! Sweet little Lucy is halter trained and important to Tacey. Her brother in law wrangled the cow out and got her ready for photos. Lucy was not having it at first, probably because seeing a wedding dress for the first time can be quite terrifying to livestock! She eventually warmed up to the idea and even let Brendan be the one to lead her (and then thanked him by licking his suit).

We were also continuously photobombed by Chloe the dog who loved being with all the people, while Cassie the dog (who loved rolling in mud a little too much) was under lockdown until it was her turn. The rain stopped just in time for photos, but not in time to keep the dogs dry!

Tacey and Brendan are so sweet and laid back. Tacey was so chill about her dress getting dirty with the animals that we and her family had to convince her to take a little break to clean some of the mud off! It was wonderful to work with her family again and get to know her and Brendan a little better.

Congratulations, Tacey and Brendan!

Japanese Garden Morning Wedding Photos [Brittany & Brent]

Brittany and Brent, Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden morning wedding photos

Brittany and Brent had the honor of being the very first wedding to take place at Nikka Yuko this spring. Their Japanese Garden morning wedding photos took place half an hour after the garden opened for the season!

Since their ceremony was not until the late afternoon, Brittany and Brent opted to have a first look in the morning. Rather than see each other for the first time in church, the first look allowed for intimate photos of the exact moment they see each on the wedding day. (We love this because it usually means less stress for the couple, fresher makeup and flowers, and a more relaxed timeline.) We had Brent turn around when Brittany was only a few meters from him. You could see the exact moment the corners of his mouth started to curl up into a smile! Brittany swears his tears were on their way, but Brent held it together!

After the Japanese Garden photos, we headed west for some views of the coulees and then family photos in Indian Battle Park before the couple was on their way to their ceremony. We had so many great moments to pull them away from their friends and family. I couldn’t get enough of how adoringly they looked at each other all day.

Congratulations, Brittany and Brent!
