Crowsnest Pass Scottish Wedding [Richard & Crystal]

Richard & Crystal, Crowsnest Pass Scottish wedding

We loved taking part in Richard and Crystal’s Crowsnest Pass Scottish wedding this past weekend because, let’s be honest, weddings are awesome when you include kilts and bagpipes! They included Richard’s family tartan in the kilt, bouquet, and fathers’ ties :)

Crystal returned to her hometown for their wedding and started the day getting ready at her family’s house before their ceremony at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Blairmore. Afterwards we headed to the Miner’s Path for photos before sending them back to the church’s basement for their reception.

Richard and Crystal are such a perfect match for each other. They both have such positive attitudes and love to joke… we got to watch them make each other laugh all day! Their friends in the wedding party were the same and by reception time, everyone was so happy dancing and socializing.

Congratulations, Richard and Crystal!

Gladstone Mountain Ranch Wedding [April & Ed]

April & Ed, Gladstone Mountain Ranch wedding

Continuing with a fantastic year of friends getting married, April and Ed’s Gladstone Mountain Ranch wedding was another very special one since they have been dating since we were in high school! (Obviously there were many jokes about how Ed likes to take his time with important decisions.)

They came back to Alberta for their very intimate wedding and chose a beautiful spot in the trees for their ceremony at the ranch. It’s such a gorgeous, peaceful location in the mountains and they couldn’t have picked a better spot! With the wedding being so intimate it gave us lots of time to spend with just the two of them for photos. After all this time they still know how to be romantic and I love seeing how comfortable they are with each other. :)

April is a very literary person so books played a huge part in the theme of their wedding, combining with natural forest touches. It was fantastic to get to work with Andrea at Elegant Weddings and Events again, who kept the day running perfectly.

Congratulations, April & Ed!

Elegant Crowsnest Pass Wedding [Jeff & Kayla]

Kayla & Jeff, elegant Crowsnest Pass wedding

Kayla and Jeff had a beautiful, elegant Crowsnest Pass wedding at the end of summer with so many well thought out details! The hints of pink, gold, and white throughout their day added perfect touches and I especially loved their matching balloons (a special thanks to the bridesmaids for inflating those before the ceremony!).

I love seeing how happy Kayla and Jeff are around each other and they were just as cuddly as at their winter engagement session, even though they didn’t need to keep each other warm this time!

They started their day with a ceremony at the Catholic Church in Blairmore and followed with a reception at the Coleman Sportsplex. They did a gorgeous job working their pink and gold colors into the decorations and candy/sundae bar, and you couldn’t recognize the venue as being a curling arena!

Congratulations, Kayla & Jeff!

Castle Mountain Outdoor Wedding [Allen & Anna]

Anna & Allen, Castle Mountain outdoor rustic wedding

Allen and Anna had both done the traditional wedding before and wanted something special this time around! By combining their love of camping and the outdoors, having the whole party in nature, and throwing in touches of a cute redneck theme, they ended up with a unique wedding that was totally them!

They held their Castle Mountain outdoor wedding at the Syncline group campsite just minutes from the ski hill, and what a gorgeous location it was! Their ceremony took place amongst the huge trees next to the river and they had a beautiful tent sent up nearby for their reception dinner. All of their guests were able to camp right on site making it super easy for everyone to attend.

Their wedding party members were very special to them, being made up mostly of their children (including fur baby Buster as the ring bearer, who rocked a matching vest). It was such a meaningful way to signify the blending of their families.

We went off site for a few photos at the old cabin on the highway and were definitely running back when we heard growling in the bushes! ;)

Congratulations, Allen & Anna!

Castle River Summer Wedding [Tricia & Colin]

Tricia & Colin, Castle River summer wedding

While I’ve photographed the weddings of many people I’ve gone to school with, Tricia’s was a special one seeing as how we’ve been friends since grade 6! From the moment she started talking about Colin, he seemed so perfect for her and I’m glad she agreed :)

Tricia and Colin held their Castle River summer wedding in the Crowsnest Pass area, starting in Coleman where Tricia grew up and working their way over to the Lundbreck area for the ceremony and reception later in the day. The Castle River Rodeo grounds were a beautiful location to hold their celebration, from their river side ceremony to their starlit open sky reception.

We had such an amazing and fun time with them! It’s so great to be able to spend such a special day with friends. (Cam and Colin have also had lots of time to bond over the last year since the couple were guests at a number of other weddings we photographed!)

Our friend Andrea at Elegant Weddings and Events (who was also in the wedding party!) did an amazing job coordinating the whole event.

Congratulations, Colin & Tricia!

Waterton Indian Wedding [Shreyo & Lorianne]

Shreyo & Lorianne, Waterton Indian wedding

Shreyo and Lorianne (whom you might remember from their zombie engagement photos) are big video game fans, so of course Cam and I got along amazingly with them! Alongside all the cute Nintendo details in their day, their Waterton Indian wedding at the Bayshore Inn honored Shreyo’s heritage and was followed by a Western ceremony.

Every part of the day was performed by people close to them, from Shreyo’s family carrying out the Indian ceremony at the start of the day to Lorianne’s cousin and sister-in-law performing the first dance song. Every little bit of their wedding felt so personal.

Congratulations, Shreyo & Lorianne!
