Lethbridge Weddings & Portrait Photography by Tanya Plonka

Last summer I had the opportunity to second shoot for Melanie at Photo Expressions for a Vauxhall country wedding she was doing. I felt a little crazy to agree to this because I had two more weddings after it that same weekend!

Amanda and Dillon held the whole wedding on their acreage, from the ceremony with hay bale seating to their dance floor that opened up to the summer night sky. They were hilarious and high energy all day, and impossible to tear apart from each other. Thanks for bringing me along, Melanie, and congratulations to Amanda and Dillon!

Just one day after second shooting for Melanie, I got to do it again with Kassey from Red Tree Photography! This time we had a Trinity Reformed Church wedding with Jessica and Josiah, who met at college and fell in love. Josiah’s family travelled from Ontario to meet Jessica’s Alberta family and have their beautiful ceremony at Jess’s family’s church.

Jessica and Josiah looked amazing, especially with her flower crown and his red bow tie. We took the wedding party to Indian Battle Park for portraits after the ceremony, then just the bride and groom downtown before heading to their reception at the Coast Hotel.

During a rare weekend off last summer, I had the opportunity to second shoot for Melanie at Photo Expressions Photography for Quintina and Mike’s wedding. Quintina and Mike had a Readymade outdoor wedding ceremony followed by portraits around the Coaldale area. They were such a happy couple with just as happy friends and spent the whole day smiling and laughing! Even better, they brought their puppy along for the whole day.

Earlier this year I had another opportunity to second shoot for the lovely Photography by Andrea Hulst when she invited me to Henk and Melinda’s wedding. We started the morning in Picture Butte while the couple got ready at their family homes and then joined them at the Netherlands Reformed Congregation for their ceremony. We spent the rest of the afternoon doing their early spring Lethbridge wedding photography around the river bottom parks, hunting for the first signs of spring that were starting to appear.

Halloween is my favourite holiday so I jumped at the opportunity to second shoot for Melanie at Photo Expressions when she told me a Lethbridge Halloween themed wedding was in the works! Stephanie and Paul definitely agree with me about what an awesome holiday it is :) They loaded up on decorations last year when the Halloween stores had clearance in preparation for their big day the next year.

They started out the day in traditional wedding attire but chose Halloween colours as their accents. We had a gorgeous day to do photos out at Nicholas Sheran Lake, and even managed to find a few leaves left at the end of the month! Stephanie and Paul make each other laugh so hard that they almost collapse. There were very few moments when either of them didn’t have a huge grin on their faces.

Their reception was a costume party held at the Lethbridge Hungarian Club, and nearly every guest got in the spirit and dressed up! There were so many amazing costumes and everyone was so happy and energetic (I’m sure the Halloween candy bar helped with that).

Occasionally I love to take a back seat in the process and second shoot for other photographers. Chaisson and Krystal’s Coaldale warm winter wedding at the Canadian Reformed Church was my first time working with Andrea Hulst… at least in this way! She was a bridesmaid in one of my weddings last summer so it was really neat to work with her in a totally different way!

Despite the wedding taking place in February, the weather was like spring, allowing us to go outside for gorgeous golden photos.
