Waterton Spring Engagement Photos [Hillary & Kevin]

Waterton spring engagement photos

Hillary and Kevin traveled down to meet me in Waterton for some spring engagement photos and we had a glorious mix of both spring and winter! The snowfall the day before still stuck in the town despite the temperatures climbing back up, so we were able to have winter wonderland type photos with gorgeous sunshine, blue skies, and enough heat to make coats unnecessary. I even got a little sunburned! With it being off season, we had most of the town to ourselves and luckily didn’t have to worry about scaling too many large snow banks.

These two are so fantastic together. Hillary and Kevin both took turns instigating who was the goofy one (and thus making the other laugh hysterically). I am sure they have no shortage of happiness when they are near each other.

Intimate Waterton Wedding [Reid & Lauren]

Reid and Lauren, Intimate Waterton Wedding photography

It may have been chilly with the crisp air coming off the snow covered mountains, but having Waterton mostly to ourselves more than made up for it! Reid and Lauren held their intimate Waterton wedding right after the town closed for the season, which was a perfect location due to each of their families having such strong ties to the area (including one set of parents having had their wedding there too!).

Lauren and Reid are such sweet, caring people and their families were so warm and inviting. We felt so at home with them all day. I really loved the subtle vintage feel of their wedding and adored Lauren’s calf-length dress, perfect for showing off her gorgeous blue shoes! She was smart and brought along a wool coat to stay warm throughout the afternoon :)

Congratulations, Lauren and Reid! (more…)

Casual Waterton Wedding [Michael & Chantelle]

Michael and Chantelle, Casual Waterton Wedding

When Michael and Chantelle told me that their dog Wyatt was going to be a big part of their wedding day I knew we would have a lot of fun! We started out their casual Waterton wedding day with an intimate ceremony at Linnett Lake on the docks with a background of changing autumn leaves and spent the afternoon taking photos around Waterton. I was so happy that they scheduled so much of their day for photos! We didn’t have to feel rushed at all and got to visit so many different locations.

We finished up at Red Rock Canyon just as a few rain/snow clouds rolled in, but luckily it’s still only up in the mountains that the season is really changing! In the evening they held their reception at the old school house in Waterton with lots of dancing and delicious food.

They were so much fun to work with and since they are huge outdoor enthusiasts (both in their careers and hobbies), they were totally fine with hiking to the best spots. Wyatt came along all day and was such a good model, even if he’s a little excitable most of the time :)

Congratulations, Michael and Chantelle! (more…)

Scenic Waterton Wedding [Sean & Alison]

Alison and Sean, Scenic Waterton Wedding

So happy to go to Waterton again! Even though Sean and Alison planned a Lethbridge ceremony for their extended family and friends at their home base of Lethbridge, they made the great decision to have an intimate scenic Waterton Wedding Ceremony (our most beautiful local destination!). Their ceremony was held behind the Prince of Wales overlooking the lakes and there wasn’t even any wind to blow us away!

We had a ton of fun going around town with them for photos afterwards and they even got to try a canoe, where Sean was given a very quick lesson by the people running the rental :) This was actually my first time using Linnett Lake as a photo location, but I think from now on it needs to be a staple! (And phew, no bears!) Sean did a great job steering the thing and luckily did not capsize the thing!

It was so wonderful to see them get married after meeting them almost a year ago, and we loved how they randomly let their goofy personalities show through their calm, laid-back demeanor.

Congratulations, Sean & Alison! (more…)

Waterton Mountain Getaway Wedding [Michael & Ashley]

Ashley and Mike, Waterton Mountain Getaway Wedding

We love Waterton and were so excited to go there again for Michael and Ashley’s Waterton mountain getaway wedding. Their event was held at the beautiful Bayshore Inn, with lots of help from Louise at Perfect Day Ventures.

We had so much fun spending the day with them; we were pretty much in non-stop laughter the whole time. They (and their bridal party members) are such warm, kind people and are a complete joy to be around. :)

I definitely appreciated their commitment to the photos. Halfway through our portraits the rain storm hit, but once it let up a little and we wrapped our gear in plastic they were totally fine with going back outside and getting a little damp! We only had to cut things short once lightning was striking around us (yikes!). Luckily the clouds parted in the evening and we gave them a little break from their reception for some gorgeous evening portraits.

Congratulations, Michael & Ashley! (more…)

Waterton Destination Wedding [Renzo & Erin]

Renzo and Erin, Waterton Destination Wedding

This was a wedding I’ve been looking forward to for a long time! Erin and Renzo first contacted me early last year all the way from San Diego as they planned their gorgeous Waterton destination wedding. I was even more excited when I met them on their planning visit to Canada – they were so pumped about their wedding and wanted to do their photos before the ceremony so everyone would look their best, not to mention how gorgeous they both are!

The day could not have been more perfect. Waterton was less crowded than normal and the heatwave broke for a day (though the church was still pretty warm!). Their large bridal party was so much fun to work with and they had the sweetest, most helpful families. I’m so happy we got to steal Erin and Renzo away for some early evening photos, which are by far my favorite of the day. With the ceremony and dinner finished they finally had a chance to relax and were absolutely beaming at each other.

It was so great getting to spend their reception with them; it ended up being one of the most fun and energetic ones I’ve ever photographed! The dance floor was constantly full all night long and all of their guests were just so happy.

Congratulations, Erin and Renzo! (more…)
