Alisa & Chris

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

Alisa and Chris’s wedding was one I had been looking forward to for quite a long time, since they were one of my earlier bookings for this year’s weddings and I had such a great time with them earlier this summer taking their first family photos after their little Eva was born. They chose the Norland Bed and Breakfast as their ceremony, getting ready, and weekend retreat location, and I couldn’t have been happier as this is one of my favorite places in Lethbridge! Not everyone is so blessed to have a huge white, pillared mansion with a grand piano to call their own, so it is nice to fake it once in a while ;)

Alisa was a little stressed before the ceremony since she was running a bit behind (which most brides do anyhow), but you could see all her concerns melt away the moment she saw Chris as she came up the aisle :)

We had a beautiful day to work with, and they were surrounded by so much love from their friends and family. Everyone was so great to work with, and I loved that Alisa was willing to yell at people to make my day go easier, ha ha!

I hope you guys are having fun in Vegas! Extra thanks to my second shooter for the day, Andrew Suderman, who was awesome to work with for the first time!

Shooting with Michael Warf – Ben & Kristen

Friday, July 24th, 2009

Since Michael Warf has been my second shooter many times this year, it was a treat to switch things up and second shoot for him a little while ago! Though I jumped into the day at formals, rather than the getting ready photos, it was easy to immediately take to Ben and Kristen, who were such a sweet couple. Our day eventually brought us to the small fair that was set up at the Enmax Center, and then to their gorgeous ceremony and reception at City Hall – what a great venue!

Thanks for bringing me along, Michael!

Andrew & Julie

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

It was such an honor to get to photograph Andrew and Julie’s wedding. I’ve known both of them since before they even dated, was let in on the proposal so I could video tape it, and now was able to be an important part of their special day. They are two very amazing people and compliment each other so well, and I had so much fun spending the day with them! Their families are generous and crazy like they are and I felt so welcome even though it was my first time meeting most members of the bridal party. Best part, Dino was the MC for the reception!

We have all missed Andrew while he teaches in Japan, and are sad to lose Julie to Japan now too, but I am so happy they can finally be together again! (I’ll have to put Japan on my ‘places to visit’ list.)

Ashley & Eric

Saturday, June 13th, 2009

Last Saturday the rain came pouring down, but Ashley and Eric were good sports and braved it with me for their wedding photos! This adorable young couple stayed positive through the whole day – being in love does that to you! – even though we were all soaked and chilly. Besides, rain is supposed to be good luck, and it made everything so green!

Their ceremony at E-Free was extra special because Eric’s dad performed the service! I was impressed he made it through without tears… he is a strong man :)

I also have to give kudos to their terrific wedding party who froze their butts off while we were taking photos! Eric’s brother was definitely the youngest groomsman I’ve ever photographed, and Ashley’s brother Chad and his fiancee Julie were also included, which is awesome because I’ll be seeing them again in August for their own wedding.

Ashley & Eric and their friends were so easy to work with, and in case I didn’t mention it before, cute cute cute! I’m so excited to work with the family again :D

Jen and Mark’s wedding

Saturday, June 6th, 2009

Last weekend I visited the Crowsnest Pass for a very special wedding. Jen and Mark, high school sweethearts, finally tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in our hometown. I am so proud of Jen and Mark for getting to this point in their lives… Not many high school romances make it this far, and it makes me so happy to see theirs come all this way! I have known everyone in the bridal party since I was in grade 9 (and Maid of Honor, Tricia, since grade 6!) so it was so amazing to spend this important day with them all.

I hadn’t seen a few members of the bridal party since high school, so it was a bit of a shock to see how much everyone had changed! Okay, it hasn’t been that long since high school, but everyone is all grown up now! Except me, I never want to grow up ;) I can also confidently say Tricia doesn’t want to grow up either… so I guess we aren’t all that grown up after all. Furthermore, the reception was like a high school dance; Jen and Tricia were my usual dance escorts back in the day, and it was awesome to experience the old days again. (Remember the Venga Boys? I had entirely blocked that part of my life out until the reception… hehe)

I’ve gotten a little desensitized to wedding emotions after shooting so many, but I still get really emotional when it’s for friends. This was such an amazing day to be a part of, and for that I am very grateful. Jen and Mark, thank you for having me there and trusting me to do your photos :)

Lindsay & Al’s Wedding

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

Wondering how “Like a Prayer” can find its way into a wedding slideshow? Be sure to click on Read More and check out the full entry here :)

I’m starting to see why wedding photographers stop posting blogs during wedding season, but I vowed to keep up with these! As long as I make it before the next weekend I am happy :) The problem this week is that Al and Lindsay were so cute AND had me booked for longer, so I had so many great shots to sort through! Their fun attitude lent itself well to a lot of great photos.

Lindsay and Al chose to see each other before everyone else was around and do the photos as the first part of the day, allowing them to be totally ready to party once the ceremony was done and the tables rolled out. I love being there to capture when the couple sees each other for the first time all done up; there is always such a look of awe and appreciation they give each other.

I loved being a part of their day. The bridal party was a riot (I had to be told a few times not to encourage certain members by laughing at their crude jokes!) and we had a beautiful sunny day to work with. Late last year I shot his brother Tyler’s wedding (who was in the bridal party this time around), and it makes it so much easier (and fun!) when you already know a chunk of the family; at the very least, it saves me from calling a few extra people “hey you!” throughout the day ;)

A big thank you again to Michael for assisting! He had lights out and ready to go when I needed them!
