I rang in the new year with west Lethbridge winter family photography of this lovely couple. I photographed their engagement session a few years ago and they’ve now added little Nathan to the family! Nathan is such a huge smiler. Any silly sound and face I made behind the camera had him squealing with delight!

We timed our session perfectly between the beautiful snowfall and wind that carried it away. A herd of deer were enjoying Aperture Park during our visit and Nathan loved watching them. One even joined our session!

Christina and Layne chose a beautiful sunny day for their river bottom winter maternity photos. I absolutely love golden hour at this time of year with how much the warm tones glow in the sun. We only had a bit of snow to deal with in the background! Christina radiated joy for her baby arriving soon.

She and Layne also brought along their first child, JackJack. JackJack is a very small dog with a blonde mohawk! I have never seen such a unique dog before! He wasn’t so sure about what we were up to but he was a good sport about the whole thing.

Charlie was treated to some senior dog celebration photos with his family who loves him very much! Charlie’s mom organized this special session with Charlie and his human brothers Daniel, Jake, and Luke. Even though the boys are all adults now, they still love their childhood dog so much! Charlie is just one of the boys and loved exploring Aperture Park with his family, some of whom were visiting Lethbridge just for this session. Not only did it smell like deer everywhere, but he had so many huge sticks to choose from!

Kord contacted me to do surprise Waterton winter anniversary photos for himself and his girlfriend Jenny on their third anniversary. What a fun gift idea! Jenny was so happy with this perfect gift that she had a lot of trouble putting away her smile. Whenever I’d ask her to be serious for a photo, she would try then exclaim, “I can’t, I’m having too much fun!” (Good thing I’m fast… I got a few serious ones in there!).

This was a rare year that Waterton hasn’t yet experienced its snowpocalypse. We were very flexible in where we could do photos and even had trouble finding snow in a few places! The usual Waterton wind made things a little difficult on the cliffs and shoreline (as in I could barely stand up). On the plus side, we missed the hurricane force winds a few days later and the ridiculousness of the wind made Kord and Jenny laugh even harder as they tried to casually pose in it!

They are such a cute couple and I had a blast exploring Waterton with them. I wish them many more anniversaries!

Betty has never had photos taken with just her, Doug, and their grandchildren. Her daughter surprised her with a special Henderson Lake winter photo session to do just that! I was told she was so excited even early on in the process when she started planning their outfits. It was pretty cold out in the snow but they braved the weather just along enough to go coatless for their photos. We had so much fun and the Lethbridge park was a perfect winter wonderland.

Leslie is happiest when it snows, so when her friend treated her to a headshot session as a Christmas gift, the timing couldn’t have been more perfect! We planned her Lethbridge winter headshot session at the very last minute (the snow was falling that night and would melt within two days) and headed over to Aperture Park on the west side with Leslie’s favourite winter coats in tow. Leslie is a talented author and a joy to be around, so I wanted to make sure her new book portraits matched her personality.
