This maternity and newborn photo gallery features photography of expecting mothers by themselves, with partners, and with their other children, as well as newborn photos of babies both alone and with family. I do the majority of newborn and maternity photography in the Lethbridge area but also travel to the Crowsnest Pass and other areas in Southern Alberta.
Lethbridge Maternity Photos
The best time to have maternity photos done is around 7 months into your pregnancy, but can be earlier or later depending on the size of your baby bump at any given point. It is a great idea to include other family members in your maternity photos. Little kids can have their very first sibling pictures or you can capture romantic interactions with your partner. Since you aren't worrying about a little baby quite yet, the photos can be done indoors or outdoors any time of the year, including winter. If you're dressed warm enough, snow can be a beautiful addition to maternity photos!
Lethbridge Newborn Photography
My newborn photography captures a lifestyle feel while still keeping an element of posing like a studio setting. Because of this, I don't need babies to be asleep during their newborn session (though it does help for posing). The best time for newborn photos is in the first 14 days after birth when the baby is super tiny and sleeping the most. I always suggest incorporating family members (especially parents) in a number of the photos but use at least half of the session to focus on your new baby. Newborn photos are usually done inside, but in the summer I love taking outdoor newborn photos on hot days. Many families also choose to do a combination in the summer; the baby photos are done in their home and the rest of the family photos as an outdoor session.
